Our dentists can perform gentle extractions for problems with wisdom teeth that might be causing you pain and new or repeated infections.

Our state-of-the-art CT scanner gives our dentists an in-depth understanding of how the roots and nerves within the tooth are positioned and a completely transparent picture of any hidden structures that could cause post-treatment complications.

CT scan for wisdom tooth

It’s no exaggeration to say that CT scans are a revolutionary tool for dentists and patients. CT scans are beneficial for the diagnosis and treatment of problematic wisdom teeth in the following ways:

No stone is left unturned

View a detailed image of your oral structures – nothing will be missed before your extraction. CT scans are extremely useful in diagnosing impacted wisdom teeth, giving your dentist a complete picture of the angulation and location of the problem tooth.

Quick and straightforward

Offer patients a quicker and more accurate scan than traditional X-rays.

A smooth recovery

CT scans reduce the possibility of post-extraction complications, as even the most minute details are detected before treatment takes place.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

We understand that choosing the right dental treatment can come with many questions. To help you feel informed and confident in your care, we’ve answered some of the most commonly asked questions about this treatment. Our friendly team is always here to help if you need further information.

Do I need to have my wisdom teeth out?

Wisdom teeth typically come through much later than your other adult teeth. This can cause problems for your mouth, as there is very often not enough space for them to fully erupt.

When wisdom teeth partially erupt, they can cause infections, trapping bits of food and bacteria behind them. This causes an unpleasant condition called pericoronitis, which can cause severe decay and bad breath when untreated.

If your wisdom teeth consistently cause you problems or do not appear to have sufficient room to erupt, we can perform an extraction to stabilise your oral health.

Can I leave my wisdom teeth as they are?

If you are not experiencing pain or repeated infections, you do not need to choose to have your wisdom teeth out. However, we recommend the removal of wisdom teeth to patients who regularly experience debilitating problems and who are at a higher risk of decay and infections because of their wisdom teeth.

What is a CT scan?

A CT scan generates a virtual model of your mouth. CT scans are used to:

  • Provide diagnoses.
  • Justify the need for a specific treatment.
  • Detect problems in obscured areas within the nerves and roots of your teeth.

Why choose Bromsgrove Dental Specialists?

At Bromsgrove Dental Specialists, our dentists have years of experience performing gentle oral surgeries on patients. We readily accept referrals from other practices and will always treat referred patients with the same high level of care, respect, and dignity as we do our own patients.

If you are feeling a little nervous about treatment, we offer IV (intravenous) sedation, which many of our patients describe as ‘magic’ for managing their phobia and nerves.

We care for many patients who come in to see us after failed dental work elsewhere, and we pride ourselves on finding solutions for you (even if you have been denied treatment in the past or something might not have gone to plan at another dental practice). We will always find a way forward for you.
